Newsletter 2015-28

Still large supplies. Warm weather and summer holidays are pressuring prices, but sales are satisfying in general. Exporting to U.K. is however challenging due to the notorious transport difficulties at Calais. At Jaaz Flowers B.V. we try our very best finding creative ways to avoid and solve problems.

This week we’d like to pay attention to the following;

-The end of Peony season is near. The field fresh ones are all taken and only preserved peonies (stored cool in crates at the growers) are available. Quality however is not as strong as expected and not all sorts are available; especially the exclusive ones are hard to get which is why we keep our stock limited.

-Lilac season also came to an end. The last grower who still had some also stopped deliveries but expects to supply again around October/November.

-The last Artichokes from France have been supplied, now we await the Dutch production any moment.

-During a working visit at summer flower nursery J. Hoogeveen at Noordwijkerhout we met an inspired grower, still experimenting with new sorts and products. The main product of this farm is Scabies in 3 different colours. Beautiful white Anika, lavender-light blue Lisa and Midsummer Sky, all varieties he grew and invented. But still eager to invent new varieties and products by using testing fields, as seen on enclosed pictures.

-For Allium also the season has come to an end as most of the regular sorts have been harvested. The ones still available will be a bit ripe, due to cooled preserving.

Please check our webshop regularly for a current view on our assortment, stock and daily prices!

That’s all for now, wishing you fine business,
